Disney+ and Hulu now cost $21.49 a month each for their standalone ad-free plans, up from $18.99. Their ad-supported standalone plans rose 50 cents, from $11.99 to $12.49 a month.
The Disney+ and Hulu price increase took effect Sept. 23, 2026 for new subscribers. Disney says existing Disney+ subscribers who signed up before that date will see the higher rate in a billing cycle on or after Oct. 21.
The increases put standalone Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium above Netflix's $19.99 Standard plan and continue a year of streaming price increases that has also included Netflix, Apple TV, Peacock, and other services.
TechCrunch reported that Bloomberg first disclosed the changes before Disney updated its pricing pages.
Disney+ and Hulu prices in 2026
The new standalone prices are:
Disney+ with ads: $12.49 a month, up from $11.99
Disney+ Premium: $21.49 a month, up from $18.99
Hulu with ads: $12.49 a month, up from $11.99
Hulu Premium: $21.49 a month, up from $18.99
Disney+ Premium also has a $214.99 annual option.
Disney's support page says the Sept. 23 pricing applies to new Disney+ subscriptions immediately. Existing Disney+ subscribers will see the increase in their billing cycle on or after Oct. 21.
Hulu's current site already displays the new $12.49 and $21.49 standalone rates. Hulu's subscriber agreement says customers should be notified in advance of price changes, so existing Hulu subscribers should check their account or price-change email for the date their individual bill changes.
Hulu + Live TV also increased separately this cycle and should not be confused with the standalone Hulu prices above.
The Disney+ and Hulu bundle saves much more now
The Disney+/Hulu bundle becomes more compelling after the standalone increases.
Buying Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium separately now costs:
$21.49 + $21.49 = $42.98 a month
The regular Disney+/Hulu Bundle Premium costs $21.99 a month, up from $19.99.
That produces a $20.99 monthly difference between buying the two ad-free services separately and taking the bundle.
The ad-supported bundle is even closer to the price of one standalone service:
Disney+ with ads alone: $12.49
Hulu with ads alone: $12.49
Disney+/Hulu Bundle with ads: $12.99
The ad-supported bundle did not increase this cycle, according to Ars Technica's breakdown.
That means adding the second service through the regular bundle currently costs only 50 cents more than subscribing to either standalone ad-supported service.
Disney is also advertising six-month promotional prices for eligible bundle subscribers. Those offers currently start at $11.99 a month for the ad-supported Disney+/Hulu bundle and $19.99 for the Premium bundle before renewing at the regular $12.99 and $21.99 monthly rates.
Check whether the price shown during signup is a temporary promotion or the regular renewal rate before comparing it with an existing subscription.
Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle prices
Disney also sells a three-service bundle with HBO Max.
Current regular prices are:
Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max with ads: $21.99 a month
Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max without ads: $34.99 a month
The no-ads bundle includes Disney+ Premium, Hulu Premium, and HBO Max Standard.
At current standalone monthly prices:
Disney+ Premium: $21.49
Hulu Premium: $21.49
HBO Max Standard: $18.49
Buying those three separately totals $61.47 a month.
The $34.99 bundle is therefore $26.48 less per month than paying for the three comparable standalone plans.
The plans are not completely identical in every feature, so check things such as downloads, concurrent streams, and video quality before switching solely on the price difference.
Disney+ vs. Netflix, Apple TV, and HBO Max prices
Among the major standalone services in this comparison, Disney+ and Hulu now sit at the high end for a standard ad-free monthly subscription.
Current prices include:
Disney+
With ads: $12.49 a month
Premium: $21.49 a month
Premium annual: $214.99 a year
Hulu
With ads: $12.49 a month
Premium: $21.49 a month
Netflix
Standard with ads: $8.99 a month
Standard: $19.99 a month
Premium: $26.99 a month
Apple TV
Ad-free: $14.99 a month
Annual: $119 a year
HBO Max
Basic with Ads: $10.99 a month
Standard: $18.49 a month
Premium: $22.99 a month
Standard annual: $184.99 a year
Netflix Premium and HBO Max Premium aren't direct matches for the standard ad-free tiers because they add features such as 4K video and additional simultaneous streams.
Among the more comparable standard ad-free monthly plans, Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium are now the most expensive at $21.49, followed by Netflix Standard at $19.99, HBO Max Standard at $18.49, and Apple TV at $14.99.
Apple TV's $119 annual subscription works out to about $9.92 per month when averaged across 12 months, although the entire annual price is paid upfront.
What changed elsewhere in streaming this year
Disney isn't raising prices in isolation.
Netflix currently charges $8.99 for Standard with ads, $19.99 for Standard, and $26.99 for Premium.
Apple raised Apple TV from $12.99 to $14.99 a month in August. Its annual plan rose from $99 to $119.
HBO Max's current standalone rates are $10.99 for Basic with Ads, $18.49 for Standard, and $22.99 for Premium.
Those increases have made streaming-plan comparisons more complicated because the cheapest tier isn't always the closest equivalent. Resolution, downloads, simultaneous streams, live programming, and ads can all differ.
Disney's streaming business is also making more money
The price increase comes after another profitable quarter for Disney's streaming business, although Disney has not said those financial results directly caused the new prices.
Disney reported that Disney+ and Hulu entertainment streaming revenue increased 11% year over year to $5.5 billion in its latest quarter.
Combined operating income from Disney+ and Hulu climbed 116% year over year to $712 million, according to Ars Technica.
The increases also continue a familiar pattern. Disney+ prices rose in December 2022 and again in 2023, 2024, 2025, and now 2026.
Hulu has also seen annual increases over much of the same period.
Which plan costs the least for your setup?
If you already pay for both Disney+ and Hulu, the bundle deserves the first comparison.
For both services without ads: Two standalone Premium subscriptions now total $42.98 a month. The Premium bundle costs $21.99, a difference of $20.99.
For both services with ads: Two standalone subscriptions total $24.98. The regular bundle costs $12.99.
For Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max without ads: Comparable standalone plans total $61.47. The bundle costs $34.99.
For one low-cost standalone service: Netflix Standard with ads remains cheaper at $8.99 than the $12.49 Disney+ and Hulu ad tiers.
For the lowest ad-free monthly price in this comparison: Apple TV costs $14.99.
For an annual ad-free plan: Apple TV's $119 annual price works out to about $9.92 per month, while Disney+ Premium's $214.99 annual price averages about $17.92.
Price alone isn't the whole comparison. The useful question is whether the cheaper bundle includes the combination of services and features you actually use.
What to check before your next bill
New Disney+ subscribers already see the Sept. 23 prices.
Existing Disney+ subscribers should check their billing date because Disney says the increase applies to billing cycles on or after Oct. 21, 2026, rather than immediately to every existing account.
Hulu subscribers should check the price-change notice associated with their account for their own effective date.
Also confirm whether Disney is offering a six-month promotional bundle price when you sign up. The current discounted introductory rates renew at higher regular prices after the promotional period ends.
Finally, check whether the subscription is billed directly by Disney or through Apple, Google, Roku, a cable provider, or another third party. Disney notes that prices through outside billing partners can differ.
The biggest shift in this round isn't just that Disney+ and Hulu cost more. It's that Disney's bundles now sit dramatically closer to the price of one standalone service, giving anyone already paying for two or three of these platforms a much larger reason to compare the bundled rate before the next renewal.
